Many Big Companies and Individual Clients facing problems to find proper Technologies,Methods and Ideas to do medium and large scale construction projects for the expansion of their business. Mainly they find difficulties to Manage and Monitor the Contractors at the different levels of Projects like Preparations of design and drawings, Purchasing of materials and equipment’s for the project, Monitoring of daily construction activities,Daily work in progress,Quality and quantity of materials used in the project and timely completion of the projects. In order to bridge this gap between the Owner and the Specialist Contracting / Construction Companies who will execute the Projects ,It is common in the industry to appoint a Project Management Consultants (PMC) who will act as Owner's Representative for the contractors.

Role of Project Management Consultants (PMC)

If Simply stating, The role of the PMC Contractor is to Manage the Project for the Project Owner in his name. More specifically it means a hugely complex activity that includes:

  • Defining a contracting strategy for the project.
  • Surveying and Government approvals
  • Selection contractors for the various phases of the project.
  • Selection of Architects
  • Selection of Structural Engineers
  • Selection of Interior Designers
  • Agree and monitor project scope, cost, schedule and progress for the timely completion of project
  • Agree project procedures (quality plan, contracting plan, technical standards, etc) with contractors.
  • Quality inspections at step by step levels with necessary control procedures like Inspection test plans, Work Checklists and Work Methodologies.

The size of the PMC Team will obviously depend on the size of the project. For small to medium size projects (up to 10 crore) the team may have less than 10 members, some with expertise in project management and some discipline experts.
